Re: Why I hate Religion but Love Jesus || Spoken Word - ThePursuitBlog

This video response is from the blog author David Dorn, of The Pursuit Blog.com. He gives yet another perspective of Jefferson's original video "Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus." As you watch this video a time or two, notice the connection that he makes with the church and religion... notice the connection that he also makes distinguishing the fact that the "type of religion" that Jefferson is pushing back so hard against is hypocrisy. Notice also the fact that David highlights the fact that without religion, how would people know about God... A few more things to consider nonetheless.

*Hypocrisy = The appearance of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not REALLY possess.

"Why I love Religion and Jesus too" - A Roman Catholic Response Video

This is a response that was formed and created from a Roman Catholic background perspective to the video "Why I Hate Religion, but Love Jesus." Again, this Catholic Priest is coming from another unique biblical and theological perspective, but it provides another viewpoint for us to assess the first video with. You will notice the use of scripture, and how it is leaned a particular direction. You may also notice that he (Catholic Priest) does not clearly address the issues within the capital "C" Church that were brought up by Jefferson Bethke. While he does address some issues or components, it does not address every issue raised by Jefferson.
As you watch this video, try and image your perspective of Jefferson's original video if you were a part of the Catholic Church, or even a priest. How might you have responded?

Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus - Jefferson Bethke

This is the video that we watched Sunday night June 17th @ Core-Life Groups. The main reason for watching the video was to start discussion about what this "type" of video might do... what questions might it bring up, and what negative/and positive side affects it can have on the Christian and non-Christian communities.

> We viewed this video to try and asses what was being said by the author Jefferson Bethke specifically as it relates to "religion" "the Church" and "Jesus' view of what His followers are called to do." This video and discussion was not intended to "put down" or "bash" Jefferson, but simply to have a discussion about the content of his short Poem. Please talk with Pastor Anton if you have questions and concerns after watching this video. You may send me (Pastor Anton) a facebook message or email at afolz@lakeviewwesleyan.org for more details about what was discussed and how you might be able to learn from this type of video.
